Motorhome Hire Tips

Has the camping bug bitten you?  Maybe it has bitten your spouse or the kids, but you have always cringed at the thought of sleeping on the damp ground with crawly things.

Solution –  Look for a Motorhome for Hire!

Consider the possibility of looking at Motorhomes and Campervans at the destinations you would love to go to. There are many advantages (besides sleeping under a fixed roof and above the ground). There are basically 3 options to choose from:

  1. Large (luxury) Motorhomesmotorhomes for rent
  2. Campervans
  3. Campers/Caravans, so everything that needs to be towed.

Some important points about renting a Motorhome or campervan, which has it’s own motor, versus a Camper/Caravan:

  1. Campers and caravans can hitch easily to the back of the car you own.  So this is a great solution if you stay close enough to home to drive your own car. You need to check your owners manual for the towing capacity of your tow-bar and engine, but there is a camper for Rent as small as one that can be towed by a sub-compact or even a motorcycle!
  2. Many compact campers are low to the ground. That means less of an obstructive view out your rear window. You probably won’t have to use side view mirror extenders.  These campers and trailers pop open to adult height, so you can stand up in them. Some even extend out to the side or have an attached canvas screened-in area for extra bug free eating and sitting space.
  3. Many Campers or Caravans have luxuries such as water tanks and canvas showers. Some have toilets and battery operated generators to run a small fridge and the coffee pot.  Now that’s camping in style!
  4. Unlike their larger cousins the Motorhome for hire,  the campers offer smaller vehicle options, which makes them easier to park. You can go to off road camp sites and really get back to nature – in relative comfort.
  5. Campers are more economical as far as gas mileage averages versus the larger Campervans or Motorhomes. This can make a big difference, especially in countries where fuel is relatively expensive.
  6. Caravans are cheaper to rent since they are not motorized and you don’t need to rent a heavy duty van or truck to tow them.

Should you Rent A Pop Up Camper instead of a Motorhome or Campervan?  The  number one concern is the number of people who will be traveling. Pop Up Campers and Tent Trailers do not sleep as many people. There is a lot less storage space. Even with an extender, the camper can get pretty cramped.  Larger Motorhomes and Campervans are motorized, so passengers can watch TV or play games while you are on the road.  They also come with  fully furbished kitchens, baths and even private bedrooms. Campers, of course are for those who like less luxuries when they travel.

It just depends on how much you and your fellow travelers want to rough it, where you want to camp and how much you wish to spend. Check out this website for further information on what to expect when renting a motorhome or campervan!
