You have heard friends or neighbors, even coworkers talk about vacationing in a Caravan. Exactly what is it?
Well, it depends on where you want to travel.
In Europe, for example, Caravan Rental is very popular, more so than Luxury Motorhome Rentals. Why? Caravans are smaller trailers that can get into more campgrounds or what is known as Caravan Holiday Parks. You can unhitch them, leave them at the campground and tour in your own vehicle if you desire to do so. And you will, because if you are traveling in the European countries, the distances between towns is often much shorter and the streets around the centuries old attractions much more narrow. Motorhomes are just not practical. If you still do not want to tow, it may be better to look for cheap campervan rental. The Europeans also like to hire the smaller Caravans because diesel and petrol is very high in price and they are more economical.
However, in the USA, especially out West, there are many wide open spaces between attractions. It can take two to three days to travel between them. Renting a Motorhome offers vacationers a home away from home along the way, and there are more campgrounds that can accommodate these larger vehicles. But this is also true for a Caravan. Why?
You see, in the USA, a Caravan is more often than not a rather large, non-motorized trailer that is towed on the back of a heavy duty truck or van.
In Europe, New Zealand and Australia, utilizing Caravans means getting a smaller, less luxury-featured trailer to tow behind a compact car. Also, in Europe, the car is extra to rent. In the USA, however, many Caravan/Camper rental companies offer you the option of renting a heavier towing capacity vehicle as well. That’s logical since what Americans know as a Caravan is a much larger trailer with all the amenities such as a full kitchen, bath and maybe a private bedroom.
So, Caravan Rental can mean something very different depending on where you live. And look out that the same goes for Cheap Campervan Rental…you can end up with a tow vehicle…
So before you decide what you want as far as a bedroom on wheels, know in what area of the world you will be seeking to rent, or hire a Caravan. It does make a difference.
